Vicar's Blog 5th May 2011

It seems as if a whole year has gone by since my last blog in March. Since then there has been the Japanese earthquake, tsunami & nuclear crisis, Libya crisis & uprisings in the Arab world, Royal Wedding, finding of Osama Bin Laden. Mixed in with this has been Easter and a summer like spring!
I hope the next few weeks are less dramatic. The problem is that we never know what to expect. Things can be going along very smoothly and then something happens to change things. For Christians Good Friday and Easter are such life changing events. The cross gives us hope. God knows our suffering and our joy. Ecclesiastes tells us that there is a time for everything;
‘Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses. He sets the time for birth and the time for death, the time for planting and the time for pulling up, the time for killing and the time for healing, the time for tearing down and the time for building. He sets the time for sorrow and the time for joy, the time for mourning and the time for dancing, the time for war and the time for peace’ (Ecclesiastes 3.1-4,8b).
When I look at my diary it is good to remember that time belongs to God. As I plan ahead I can only trust in Him.
