Mark Binney was born in Leamington Spa. He is the eldest of six children. When he was eight years old the family moved to a village near Rugby to enable his father to commute to London every day on the newly electrified railway line. His father later commuted from Birmingham Airport to Brussels. Mark and his brothers and sisters were all sent to boarding school. It was at this time that Mark felt called to the Ordained Ministry.

With this in mind Mark studied Theology at Kings College London. He gained a degree in Divinity and then spent a year at Coventry Polytechnic studying for a post graduate diploma in Industrial Relations. Mark was selected for Ordination and completed his theological education at the Queen's College Birmingham.

Mark was Ordained in 1986 at Chelmsford Cathedral and served two curacies in Essex. In 1991 he had his first parish as Vicar in Great Barr, Lichfield diocese. In 1996 he moved to the Wombourne team ministry near Wolverhampton as a Team Vicar. The Bishop asked him to move to Tamworth in 1999 as Vicar of Wilnecote. He remained there until his appointment at Hampton as Priest in Charge in 2008.

In 2018 following the merging of the benefice of Hampton with Sedgeberrow and Hinton on the Green with Bengeworth Parish Mark became the Vicar of the Asum South Benefice.

Mark is married to Charlie. Between them they have six children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Only one lives at home now! This enables Mark and Charlie to enjoy the Vale of Evesham.
